In den 1970er-Jahren kam niemand an der Popgruppe Boney M. vorbei. 1976 stürmte die Band mit dem Song "Daddy Cool" alle Hitparaden. Mehr als zehn Jahre lang wirkte das Popwunder Boney M., eine von Frank Farian produzierte Formation.

Songs wie "Sunny", "Rivers Of Babylon", "El Lute", "Belfast", "Gotta Go Home" oder "Hooray! Hooray! It's A Holi-Holyday" sind bis heute Ohrwürmer. Boney M.: Das waren in der Urbesetzung Liz Mitchell, Marcia Barrett, Maizie Williams und Bobby Farrell. Mit einer Castingfirma stellte der aus Rheinland-Pfalz stammende Musikproduzent Frank Farian die Gruppe zusammen und bewies damit ein glückliches Händchen.
